Digital=to=analogue conversion method for forming output with nonlinear transfer characteristic

The digital value (D) is formed by several bits (Bi) and the output voltage (Ua) has a nonlinear transfer characteristic. The voltage (U') is generated by stepwise multiplication of an input voltage (Ur) by coeffts. (Ki). The coeffts. of the individual multiplications of each bit of the digital value are switched over between two preset values (Ti, Ti'). The generated value forms the analogue output value. Preferably at least one coefficient is switched over between a value (Ti=1) to a value differing from one (Ti'<>1), and the ratio Ti/Ti' may be defined by exponential function. The circuit may comprise a chain of attenuators (Wo-Wn).
