PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the optimum conditions in chain crushing of microballoons and to obtain an emulsion explosive having improved performance of an explosive. SOLUTION: Microballoons having an average particle diameter D1 and microballoons having an average particle diameter D2 are selected so as to satisfy D1 /D2≈2 and both the microballoons are spatially distributed at such intervals that the diameter D1 ' of the microballoons having the diameter D1 at the time of breaking caused when shock waves generated at the time of breaking the microballoons having the diameter D2 reach the adjacent microballoons having the diameter D1 is made about 0.7 time the initial diameter D1 .
