The chain wheel has teeth on a basic body which engage with bolts or bushes. Material can exit the area of contact between the connecting components of the chain and the basic body (1) or the teeth (2). The teeth fixed on the opposing face sides (5,6) of the basic body form pairs which enter into engagement with a connecting component. The teeth of one of each pair are spaced from one another in the area of a ring zone (8) surrounding the basic body. The distance (a) between the teeth of one of each pair is equal to the distance (b) between the face sides of the basic body used for fixing the teeth. The distance between the teeth of one of each pair is constant over the complete height of the teeth.
