PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent chips, a cause of the defective cleaning action of a transfer belt, from being produced and to prevent the defective cleaning action from being executed by regulating the roughness of the rear surface of the transfer belt in a new range in an image forming device. SOLUTION: This transfer belt 6 is arranged by being faced to an image carrier 3 so that a transfer material S is interposed and carried by a nip part W between the belt 6 and the carrier 3. Then, a toner image formed on the carrier 3 is electrostatically transferred on the material S. Besides, the material S on which the toner image is transferred is separated from the carrier 3 and carried to a fixing part 17. Then, the surface roughness (10-point average roughness) Rz of the rear surface of the belt 6 is set to be >=7μm. More precisely, the surface roughness Rz of the rear surface of the belt 6 is set to be >=7μm when the grinding finish of the rear surface of the belt 6 is executed and the roughness Rz is set to be >=10μm when the grinding finish is not executed.
