PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a long-pitched steel cord small in reduction by twisting, capable of being imposed by a uniform load even in the state of bent state and large in elongation ratio, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: This steel cord is a reinforcing member used by embedding in a rubber or its equivalent material, and its minimum twisting pitch Pmin satisfies the following equation; Pmin=πD.tan (90-θ)π/180}, whereθis a twisting angle and D is a core layer diameter, and further, the maximum twisting pitch Pmax is given by a smaller value of either one of PMr=2πR or PMl=L, by taking R as a radius of curvature and L as a cut length of the cord.
