Adjuster for vehicle seats

The adjuster has an operating lever (1) fixedly connected to a toothed area (1b). In its centre position the toothed area engages simultaneously with two axially parallel gearwheels (12,13) which have oppositely aligned freewheels (10,11) through which they are connected to aligned gearwheels (8,9) which mesh with a common output wheel (14). The output wheel transfers its rotary movement which is provided during movement of the operating lever to a rotatable part of the seat adjustment either indirectly or directly. The output wheel can mesh with an intermediate wheel (15) connected to a rotatable part of the seat adjuster.
