摘要 Improved electrode types and device configurations for organic electronic devices are disclosed. This improvement can be achieved by facilitating gettering or desiccating action of impurities, such as water, oxygen or residual solvents from the active layers of the device. Device structure and device layer materials can contribute to this improved gettering, which is inherently useful in printed electrode devices, but may also be useful in devices with electrodes patterned by other techniques. Improvement in impurity flow out of the active area of the device leads to improved performance and operational lifetime for as-made and encapsulated devices throughout their product lifecycle. Aspects of the present invention enables improved thin film electronic devices, such as OLEDs, organic photovoltaics (OPVs) and the like.
