The moccasin is made by cutting from a piece of leather a shape having two parts (1,2). These parts are delimited by the meeting point (P) of their curved front edges (1A,2A) and joined together along one (3) of their sides. One part (1) includes the sole (4) and the second part comprises the upper part (5A) of the upper. The parts are sewn together to form the moccasin. The part constituting the upper has a longitudinal trapezoidal or triangular cut (12) opening to its rear in its middle. The part including the sole is cut with greater dimensions to those of the surface forming the sole so as to provide a fringe zone (6) constituting the lower part (5B) of the upper. The method of cutting out the moccasin and its subsequent sewing prevents its sagging and is comfortable to wear.
