The valve unit 1 comprises an inlet 2 for connection to a compressed-air source and two outlets 3, 4 for connection to the parking braking circuit 7 and to a service braking circuit 8, respectively. Isolation valves 11 are provided between the inlet 2 and the outlets 3, 4. A valve 13 for exhausting to the atmosphere has its inlet connected to the first outlet 3 by means of a bleed duct 14 including a restricted passageway 15 and is controlled by the pressure in the service braking circuit 8. When the pressure in circuit 8 exceeds a predetermined value the exhaust valve 13 cuts off the bleed duct from the atmosphere, and the bleed duct is open to atmosphere, via valve 13, when the pressure in circuit 8 falls below a predetermined threshold.
