PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper machine capable of arbitrarily changing the formation of a paper layer to give the optimal formation physical properties. SOLUTION: An endless upper wire 2 and an endless lower wire 1 are disposed in an overlapped state. A lead-in-roll 7 on the side of the upper wire 2 is faced to a forming roll 3 on the side of the lower wire 1. A lap angleαbetween the upper and lower wires 2, 1 is formed at the part of the forming roll 3. The lead-in-roll 7 can be moved to change the lap angleα. Thereby, the dehydration degree of the forming roll 3 can be adjusted to control the amount of water brought into the paper layer-constituting part 13.
