When the diaphragm in a diaphragm accumulator tears, nitrogen may move into the fluid. If the diaphragm accumulator is used in a braking system, serious faults can occur. In the diaphragm accumulator (2) according to the invention, an intermediate chamber (20) is provided in the resilient partition wall (6). Said intermediate chamber (20) leads to a sensor (16) which can detect damage in the resilient partition wall (6) before nitrogen reaches the fluid. The diaphragm accumulator is provided particularly for hydraulic braking systems in motor vehicles.
