Ring trough mixer, especially for building materials such as concrete

A ring trough mixer has an annular mixing chamber (4) and a rotor (3) with mixer arms (7a,7b,7c) which extend into the chamber, supporting mixing elements (8a,8b)at different radial distances from the rotor axis. The mixing elements are angled so that those nearer the outer periphery of the chamber impart an inward motion and those closest to the centre an outward motion to the materials being mixed. The mixing elements (8) are arranged in pairs, of which one (8a) is closer to the outer wall (2) and the other (8b) is closer to the inner wall (3) of the chamber. The projection in a radial direction of at least one of the mixing elements (8) corresponds to at least 40 percent of the width of the mixing chamber, and the angular disposition of the elements in a pair is such that the leading element directs the material being mixed towards the trailing element.
