Gas generator for vehicle air-bag system

The gas generator (1) provides pressurised gas for inflation of the air-bag, using a liquid gas contained in a pressure chamber (2) enclosed by a pressure chamber housing (3), provided with an external quartz oscillator crystal (4) driven by oscillator (5). The quartz oscillator is operated at a harmonic and contained within a recess (7) provided in the outer surface of the pressure chamber housing, embedded in resin mass. The temperature of the quartz oscillator can be detected with evaluation of the quartz signals via a temperature and/or frequency-dependent electronic stage.
