Open end spinning unit for thread quality held by fibre speed control

An apparatus for open-end spinning comprises: (i) a device (3) for opening up ribbon-shaped fibrous material fed to it into a veil of individual fibres; (ii) a stationary linear collecting point (6) which simultaneously establishes a thread formation line for the thread to be spun; a twisting device placed on a projection of the thread formation line; and (iii) a device for drawing off the thread. The collecting point directly abuts the opening device and the thread draw-off device can be driven at a speed which is at least as high as the speed with which the individual fibres (5) arrive at the collecting point.
