The method for reinforcing a bridge floor (10) uses intermediate pillars (22,23) to allow a partial take up of the loads applied on the floor. Between the floor and the posts or pillars are stops (32,33) to limit the loads, which can be formed by helical compression springs, which can be calibrated to a maximum given load, at which they retract when the load exceeds the limit. Alternatively, the helical compression springs can be replaced with fluid cylinders or silicone gum.
