The bag (12) is filled with a malleable material, such as loose granular material, which does not occupy the whole of the maximum volume of the bag, such that a ball (B) may be placed on the bag which can be deformed and shaped to form a pocket (16) which serves to hold the ball in a chosen attitude for place kicking.
