<p>Unwanted particles in the fibre material passing through a carding machine are detected by a camera monitoring the fibre web between processing means such a stripper roller (6) and a pair of nip rolls (7, 8). Also claimed are (1) an appts. on a carding machine for detecting unwanted particles; and (2) a method of viewing a card web travelling through a carding machine. Pref. the camera is sealed in a housing (14) with a transparent window (17) and reflective mirror (20). The camera may be traversed across the roll width on carriage means (21). The camera output may be transferred to an external information handling system to be used as part of a control loop.</p> |
