<p>A cuff of a sphygmomanometer capable of judging systolic and diastolic pressures with high accuracy. The cuff (10) comprises a rigid curved plate (10a), an outer cloth (10b) surrounding the outer periphery of the curved plate (10a), an inner cloth (10c) sewn to the outer cloth (10b) so as to surround the inner periphery of the curved plate (10a), an air bag (10d) provided on the inner side of the inner cloth (10c), and a fastener (10e) attached to the outer periphery of the outer cloth (10b). The air bag (10d) comprises a transparent bag body (10g) containing reinforcing fibers (10f) incorporated thereinto to a grid pattern. An optical distance sensor (12) comprises a photocoupler (12a) attached to the outer side of the bag body (10g) and a reflective plate (12b) attached to the inner side of the bag body (10g) so as to oppose the photocoupler (12a). The photocoupler (12a) is provided with a light emitting diode and a phototransistor, and the light emitted by the diode is reflected on the reflective plate (12b) and falls on the phototransistor. The magnitude of the output of the phototransistor varies in accordance with the distance between the photocoupler (12a) and the reflective plate (12b).</p> |
