The invention relates to a milling cutter (1), in particular a rough-grinding milling cutter or a spiral milling-cutter, the periphery of the milling-cutter body (2) having at least one spiral groove (3), and a cutter or a blade (4) being fixed in each case, in particular soldered, in additional recesses which extend substantially in the direction of the axis of the milling-cutter body (2) and are on the periphery of said milling cutter. Said cutter or blade (4) projects at least slightly from the surface of the milling body (2). The object of the invention is attained in that the additional recesses for holding each blade or cutter (4) on the periphery of the milling-cutter body (2) are arranged to be staggered opposite each other in the peripheral direction of the milling-cutter body (2) in such a manner that only one respective blade or cutter (4) is arranged in a direction parallel to the axial direction (5) of the milling-cutter body (2) on the periphery thereof, thereby achieving a high working capacity of the milling cutter (1) with a steadier stress on the milling head (1).
