The process equipment and has the following steps: Decoupling of a measurement signal, which contains the full bandwidth of the equipment containing all the oscillations present. Generation of a first receiver oscillator signal with constant amplitude and a mid-frequency (F1). Mixing of the first receiver signal with the decoupled measurement signal to give a first measurement signal at o Hz frequency. Input of the first mixed signal to a low pass filter (17) and filtering of frequencies above a first range. The filter output is input to an envelope curve detector (19) where the first signal is demodulated. The demodulated signal is then evaluated to detect any partial discharge impulses are detected. The above steps are repeated across the desired bandwidth.
