Switching tappet for IC engine valve gear

The tappet (1) has an annular (2) and a circular bottom section (3) in concentric configuration, engageable by cams of different strokes. A centre cam (4) of small stroke engages the circular section, while at least one adjacent cam (5) of greater stroke engages the annular section. Two bores are fitted in the annular bottom section, or an adjacent one, on a plane transverse to the tappet axial line and equidistant to its first longitudinal centre plane. In each bore is fitted a pressure medium actuated pin (14) as direct coupler, engaging a groove (34) in an external jacket face (33) of the guide sleeve (10) coupled to circular section. A pressure spring is arranged in each of the bores to brace a oil-proof, closable plug element.
