A crash sensor (14) is incorporated which produces a crash signal reproducing a vehicle crash. This signal unlocks a securing device (magnet 4 and 5, pin 6 and 7, bolt 11 and 12) fixing the cover (3) or the cover frame (2) in the opening in the roof and/or operates the electrical drive motor (10) of the cover in order to transfer it into the opening position. The release of the securing device is by means of a pyrotechnical medium. The securing device incorporates electro-magnets (4, 5) which secure it mechanically and release it electrically. The cover when released by the crash signal is transferred by the drive motor (10) into its maximum opening position. The crash sensor (14) is part of an air bag system.
