PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of recording and reproducing characteristics of a magnetic head at a low cost by setting a video tape in contact with a removing member having a knife edge-shaped end part of the predetermined angle after the surface process, and then causing the tape to run in order to remove magnetic powder and foreign matter. SOLUTION: The end part 101 of a removing member 100 is formed as a knife edge-shaped having the setting angleθof 35 to 70 degrees for the side surface 102 in the longitudinal direction. The video tape T moves in the direction R while it is in contact with the end part 102, so the dropped magnetic powder and adhered foreign matter can be forcibly removed. Thereby, deterioration of the recording characteristic and reproducing characteristic of the magnetic head for the video tape T can be prevented. Moreover, the removing member 100 is formed of a special steel for tool such as aluminium, austenitic stainless steel, and the surface is hardened by the physical or chemical vapor deposition method using oxide and nitride. Thereby, the material cost can be saved and process can also be simplified in comparison with the case where ceramics is used.
