An electromagnetic switching device (1) including a magnet system comprising an armature (4) and a yoke (5), movable contact parts mounted in a movable contact carrier (3) and forming with the fixed contact parts opening (9) and closing (10) contacts, where the yoke (5) is elastically mounted in the closure direction of the magnet system. The design of the elastic suspension of the yoke (5) enables movement of the yoke (5) up to the closure of the magnet system, following switch on of the magnet system with welded opener contact, in which the elastic mount is achieved by a taper-or cone-spring (18) inserted between the yoke (5) and a bobbin (6), and the maximum spring action (X) of the cone-spring (18) in the OUT position is at least as much as the reduced spacing (W) by the opener action (d).
