The invention concerns a portable device (1, 2, 3) for handling a rope, comprising a handle (20) and a curved piece (11, 21) fixed to one end of the handle. The proximal part (12, 22) of the curved piece (11, 21) forms a substantially spiral loop (13, 23) and the distal part (14, 24) of the curved piece extends substantially beyond the loop (13, 23) to form a hook (15, 25). The invention is useful for mooring boats.
