Production of a ceramic constructional element having a ceramic substrate (4) and a printed layer comprises printing the layer onto the ceramic substrate using a transfer printing process, in which the transfer medium (3) is a deep-structured foil (1) with elevated and recessed parts. For the printing process, the whole surface of the foil is coated with the printing medium. The printing medium is transferred from the elevated parts of the foil surface to the substrate.
