The soft detergent powder for automobiles was prepared without using oxalic acid which is harmful to human bodies. 30 Wt.% of ethylene diamine tetraammonium was reacted with 15 wt.% of linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid to give a liquid viscous reactant. The reactant and a gelled colloid solution obtained from a reaction of 10 wt.% of zeolite and 5 wt.% of linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid were mixed and stirred, followed by adding 20 wt.% of ammonium citrate, 10 wt.% of sodium sulfate, 5 wt.% of acrylamide, 2 wt.% of silicone oil, 2 wt.% of n-octyl alcohol and 1 wt.% of glycerine, and stirred for 1 hour and leaved for 10 hour to give a colloid solution having large elastic viscosities. The colloid solution was dried and pulverized to give the powder detergent.
