PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having hemostatic action, antiinflammatory action and analgesic action, useful as a therapeutic agent for various diseases for which Panax notoginseng has been used, especially hepatic failure, an antiinflammatory agent, etc., comprising a specific saponin glycoside isolated from Panax notoginseng as a Chinese medicine. SOLUTION: This new saponin glycoside is shown by formula I [R<2> is Glu<6> -<1> Glu (Glu is /β-D-glucopyranosyl and the numbers on the shoulder mean their bonded positions); R<2> is Glu<2> -<1> Glu; R<3> is a group of formula II, formula III, etc.], has hemostatic action, antiinflammatory action and analgesic action and is useful for various diseases for which Panax notoginseng has been used. The compound is obtained by extracting Panax notoginseng as a Chinese medicine with methanol in a hot state, partitioning the extracted essence with ethyl acetate and methanol in a liquid-liquid state, adding n-butanol to its water transfer part, carrying out the liquid-liquid partition of the water transfer part and subjecting the n-butanol phase to normal phase silica gel chromatography and reversed phase column chromatography.
