Induction heated roller

The roller with induction heating has a fixed shaft (23) with a number of hydraulic operating units (27) on a line parallel to the axis of the stationary shaft. Systems (32,35) to generate a magnetic flow each have ferrous cores (30,33) and induction coils (31,34) round the cores. The roller mantle (21) rotates round the fixed shaft, with a cylindrical wall forming at least one mantle chamber filled with a twin-phase heating medium. Each hydraulic operating unit (27) has a piston (26) to apply pressure to the inner cylindrical wall surface through hydraulic oil pressure delivered to the unit (27). The medium is heated by a current fed to the induction coils (31,34) of the units (32,35) to generate a magnetic flow. The units (32,35) to generate the magnetic flow are at intervals round the roller assembly, on a line defined through the hydraulic operating units (27).
