The invention relates to a device for spraying fragrance into a room. At least one nozzle connected to a supply of fragrance is placed in the fresh air flow of a ventilation system. The nozzle is located approximately in the middle of a fresh air inlet and is secured on the open end of a lance projecting into the flow of fresh air. A base plate is placed on the end of the lance opposite to the nozzle and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lance. The lance is secured to the fresh air inlet by means of said base plate. The fragrance supply is located in an interchangeable storage container with a charging hole and an outlet hole which can be closed. The method of aromatizing ambient air entails spraying a fragrance into the flow of fresh air of a ventilation system coming into the room. The fragrance is fed from a storage container through a conduit into a nozzle which is located inside the flow of fresh air. A flow of air emanating from the nozzle which is designed as an injection nozzle carries the fragrance away from a compressed air duct and sprays it into the fresh air flow. A supply of fragrance feeding the storage container from a compressed air duct is pressurized, directed through the fragrance conduit to the nozzle and sprayed.
