PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a running information providing device which can surely provide the driver of a vehicle with the running information of the vehicle when the driver loses his way regardless of the running state of the vehicle. SOLUTION: A running information providing device reads a link matrix storing the running locus of a vehicle, such as roads, intersections, etc., as link data (122), extracts the partial link data of the past running locus near the present location shown on a map (124), and finds the relation between the present location and the extracted data (125). When the present running road intersects or is close to a past running road, the device discriminates that the present road is a wrong road (126 and 128), reads aural information, such as the names of peripheral roads, etc., (130), and aurally outputs the information by reproducing the information through a loudspeaker (132). Therefore, the device can quickly provide the driver, etc., of a vehicle with the information. |
