PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the deterioration of silver tone in storage after processing in a quick processing with low replenishment by containing a specified compound in a fixer, and setting the average flow velocity to a specified value in fixing processing. SOLUTION: In a fixer containing a compound represented by the formula, the average flow velocity in fixing processing is set to 20cm/sec or more. In the formula, Z represents an atomic group necessary for forming a 5- to 6-membered ring which is selected from carbon atom, nitrogen atom, oxygen atom, sulfur atom and selenium atom, X<-> represents -O<-> , -S<-> or -N<-> R, and R represents a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group, cycloalkyl group, alkenyl group, alkynyl group, aralkyl group, aryl group or heterocyclic residue. The mesoion compound represented by the formula means a compound which can not be satisfactorily represented by, for example, a 5-membered or 6-membered heterocyclic compound and has sixπ-electrons related to all atoms constituting the ring, where the ring is partially charged to positive charge, and well- balanced with the equal load on an exocyclic atom or atomic group.
