PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ultraviolet light-absorbing material high in a ultraviolet- shielding effect and excellent in dispersion stability, use touch and safety by allowing fine silk particles to adsorb an anionic water-soluble ultraviolet light absorbent. SOLUTION: This ultraviolet light-absorbing material comprising an anionic water-soluble ultraviolet light absorbent adsorbed to fine silk particles is obtained by compounding the fine silk particles having a crystallinity of 10-90%, particle diameters of 0.01-10μm (measured by a laser scattering method) and preferably a volume-average molecular diameter of 0.05-5μm with the anionic water-soluble ultraviolet absorbent (e.g. a compound of the formula) in a weight ratio of 100:5 to 100:5, stirring the mixture in 20-70 deg.C for 0.05-5hr, and subsequently centrifugally precipitating or filtering the fine particles. The ultraviolet light- absorbing material can be utilized as a ultraviolet light-controlling agent in many fields such as cosmetics, primary hair dyes, various kinds of coatings, inks and clothes.
