The arrangement consists of a hub (4) with external splines (4e), and a sliding gear (10) with internal splines which engage with these external splines (4e) and is mounted on the hub (4) so that it can slide. A synchronisation ring (6,7) is also supplied mounted on the hub (4) with an interior truncated face (6b,7b) in a way that it has a limited positional rotation. The synchronising ring (6,7) has peripheral grooves (6a,7a) in which is placed a spring clip (8,9) which acts to prevent the synchronising ring moving axially outwards. A part of the interior face (4a,4b) of the hub (4) is truncated with its summit directed axially outwards and the spring clip (8,9) bears on this face. The clip (8,9) is made of two or three sections which have radial projections in relation to the rest of the clip and which face axially towards the projections (10a,10b) of the sliding gear (10).
