Sport shoe sole, spiked or studded comprises melt-bonded plastics. The sole body (10) is stiff under pressure. For localised ending stiffness, it is sandwiched in a novel structure, by thin, flush inlaid layers (14,15) of higher tensile plastic, pref. the lower (14) longer than the upper (15). This may be reinforced with glass, carbon or aramid fibres, or is a matrix, impregnated with sole material. The sole is pref. based on polyamide 12, inlays being a modified form of this. Possibly admixed with new material, recycled polyamide or polyurethane maybe used. Multilayer construction is feasible, and the sole may be foamed in the reinforced regions. Further constructional options include injection around the reinforcement, if required with thermal bonding agent. Suitable form bulges may be incorporated. |
