<p>In a method and apparatus for detecting the integrity of data previously written to a magnetic medium while writing new data to the magnetic medium, a write transducer writes data to the magnetic medium and a read transducer (56) subsequently reads the data from the magnetic medium. Electrical implementation of autocorrelation and crosscorrelation functions can be used to separate interference signals and the information signals at the output of the read transducer.
