Method of producing trimethylopropane out of n-butyric aldehyde and formaldehyde, introduced in the form of technical and regenerated formalin, in the presence of NaOH as catalyst and of water. The molar proportion of reacting substances is equal to 1 : 3.3-8 : 1.1-1.2 : 40-60. The reaction is carried out at the temperature up to 35 degrees C for 1.5-2 hours. Characterized in that: n-butyric aldehyde is proportioned to the reactor, while the mixture is intensely mixed and cooled, to ensure pH does not fall below 12. When the reaction stops reacting, the solution is neutralized to pH 5.5-6.0 by a known method, by means of formic acid or sulphuric acid. Then, the mixture is cooled down to the temperature of 30 degrees C. Then, the mixture is separated into the top organic layer, containing impurities introduced together with raw products and generated during the process, and the bottom layer, containing products, that are precipitated by a known method. The top layer is directed to be utilised. |
