PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-sensitive tacky adhesive composition which shows no or very low adhesiveness at ordinary temperature and develops adhesiveness when heated and is useful for e.g. tacky adhesive sheets or tapes. SOLUTION: This composition is prepared by dissolving or dispersing a copolymer (B) being a water-soluble or water-dispersible one obtained by copolymerizing anα,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid with other radical-polymerizable monomers and having a glass transition temperature of -20 to 15 deg.C, where at least part of or the whole carboxyl group is neutralized with a base in an aqueous emulsion (A) containing an alkyl (meth)acrylate polymer having a glass transition temperature of -30 deg.C or below. The weight ratio A/B is 90/10 to 50/50 in terms of a ratio between the nonvolatile contents of the components.
