PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize the detection sensitivity of radiation irrelevant to the intensity of the radiation by giving the thickness between an incident surface of the radiation and an outgoing surface of scintillation light a dimension enough to emit the scintillation light irrelevant to the intensity of the radiation. SOLUTION: This scintillation detector has a scintillator 11 in which the thickness (t) between the incident surface 20 of radiation and the outgoing surface 21 of scintillation light is given a dimension enough to allow emitting of the scintillation light irrelevant to the intensity of the radiation. The dimension of the incident surface of the scintillation light at a photomultiplier 12 is made smaller than that of the outgoing surface 21 of the scintillation light of the scintillator 11 so that the scintillation light alone by the emission near the center axis of the scintillator 11 is converted into an electrical signal to be amplified. A part of the scintillation light emitted near the incident surface 20 of the scintillator 11 by a low energy radiation reaches the photomultiplier tube 12. The most of the emission near the center axis of the scintillator 11 by a high energy radiation also reaches the photomultiplier 12.
