A coat or jacket for use in occupational applications, has a smooth area (4), a collar in particular, which needs to be kept crease-free for reasons of appearance. The whole area (4) is formed out of two fabric layers (3, 5) enclosing a pocket (6). A smoothing lining (8) is inserted into the pocket (6). The lining fills the pocket (6) completely and is made of a flexible material (natural or synthetic polymer). It is sewn on the invisible lower fabric layer (5) but is not connected to the visible layer (3).
