Seal for two abutting elements used in tunnel building

The gap (3) between two abutting building elements made from e.g. concrete, steel, steel-reinforced concrete or cast iron is bridged by a seal profile (5) made from an elastomer material. The building elements, preferably segments (2,2'), are joined together form a tunnel, leaving cross and length direction joins. Each segment has a space (4) running around it, which preferably faces a similar space in the abutting segment to form a tunnel when the two segments are pressed together. A profiled sealing strip present in each segment space forms a sealing frame. Open or closed grooves (6,9) are present in the base side of the strip. Closed channels (7,8) extend in the length direction of the strip, positioned between the grooves and the top side (10) of the profile.
