PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a liquid crystal display device small in size and convenient for carrying by freely opening/closing a light collecting section and a liquid crystal display section and closing then during non-use. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device(LCD) 1 and a backlight 2 are integrated, and the backlight 2 and a light collecting section 3 are connected to each other turnably with a hinge section 4. During use, optical paths are connected integrally between the light guiding material 3a of the light collecting section 3 side and the light guiding material 2a of the backlight 2 side. Further, an external light such as sunlight or indoor illumination, taken in by a light guiding material 3a is repeatedly reflected on the inner wall of the outer frame 3b of the light collecting section 3 and then sent to the backlight 2 side. In this backlight 2, light guiding and irregular reflection processing is performed, and the LCD 1 is illuminated as a planar light source. Then, during use, the condensing section 3 is opened, the light guiding material 3a is exposed, the screen of the LCD 1 is observed in the state capable of taking in the external light, and during non-use, the light collecting section 3 is closed to make the device compact and convenient for carrying. |
