Program memory expansion for microprocessor

An address expansion register (4) makes available additional address lines to the memory cells (5). It also holds memory cell page addresses, adjustable by means of an alteration switching program. An alteration switching stack held in the data memory (3) holds return addresses, adjustable by means of the alteration switching program upon termination of a program part. A program memory or memory cell (5) has a memory capacity divided according to pages. Each page includes the addressability of the microprocessor (1). Each page of the program memory (5) also holds the alteration switching program and a branch table.
