PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a difference in developing efficiency in the thickness direction of a developer layer and to prevent the generation of a streak with the developer layer by providing a developer soaring up member for soaring up a developer in the developer layer and further, settling the developer on the developer carrier. SOLUTION: In this developing device 10, a developer soaring up electrode 6 is arranged to face the developer carrier 2. This electrode 6 is disposed in a position nearer to the downstream side in the B-direction of carrying the developer than a charge applying member 5a and the upstream side than a developing region D, to soar up the developer in the developer layer and further, settle the developer on the developer carrier 2. Then, an alternating voltage is applied to the developer soaring up electrode 6 from a developer soaring up power source 14, to soar up the developer. Thus, not only the difference in charged toner concentration in the thickness direction of the developer layer on the carrier 2, but also the difference in an electric charge quantity in the thickness direction of the developer layer are reduced. Moreover, it is preferable that a part facing the carrier 2 is formed into a circular-arc shape, not to generate a place on which an electric field is concentrated, in the vicinity of the developer soaring up electrode 6. |
