PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold clamping device of an injection molding machine which can be easily miniaturized as a tie barless mold clamping device and in which a movable plate can be smoothly moved with respect to a fixed plate and a mold can be smoothly clamped, and a mold opening and closing position can be established easily and properly. SOLUTION: In the mold clamping device of an injection molding machine, a fixing plate 24 to which a fixed die is attached is connected to one of the ends of a support frame 20, and a movable plate 28 to which a movable die is attached is located in opposition to the fixing plate 24 without using a tie bar, and the movable plate 28 is provided on the side of the other end of the support frame 20 so as to be movable back and forth with respect to the fixing plate through a moving means. In this case, a linear motor 30, as the moving means, is provided integrally to the other end of the frame 20 and the plate 28 is connected to a movable member 34, which is moved by the linear motor, to make the movable plate movable back and forth with respect to the fixing plate 24.
