PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject agent having germicidal/bacteriostatic effect against various bacteria at low doses by including, as active ingredients, a specific tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium salt and a germicide selected from specific nitrobromo- or cyanobromo-based compounds and others. SOLUTION: This agent is obtained by including, as active ingredients, (A) a tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium salt of the formula, [(CH2 OH)4 P<+> ]n M ((n) is the valence of M; M is at halogen ion or the like) and (B) a germicide selected from nitrobromo- or cyanobromo-based compounds, halogenated acetic ester derivatives, glutaraldehyde, methylenebisthiocyanate, 4,5- dichloro-1,2-dithiol-3-one, halogenated glyoxime derivatives, and isothiazolone- based compounds, in a weight, ratio A/B of pref. (20:1) to (1:50). |
