FIELD: production of stretchable paper. SUBSTANCE: method includes the following stages: supply of mixture of vegetable fiber to kneading device, comminution of fibers by attrition to obtain mass with degree of comminution at least 30 deg SR (by Shopper-Rigler instrument); supply of comminuted mass of transfer chamber; supply of comminuted mass from transfer chamber to cloth for formation of paper web with subsequent reduction of water content due to gravity and vacuum; pressing of the web with subsequent further reduction of water content; initial drying of preliminarily profiled paper web to obtain practically constant moisture content between 15 and 68%; compaction of web between roll pairs which is made of hard material and has surface circular ribs and is given rotary motion of high speed, and the other roll is made of soft material with smooth surface and rotated at low speed; final drying of web to obtain moisture content between 15 and 4%, preferably, 10-8%; glossing of paper web. The device for embodiment of the method has kneading device, transfer chamber, paper web formation section, pressing section, initial drying section, glossing section, final drying section, section of comminution with multistage comminutor for special discs, compaction section with at least one pair of rolls one of which is made of rubber material and is rotated at speed lower than that of roll made of hard material. At least one hard roller has circular ribs on its surface. EFFECT: production of paper with high degree of stretchability both in longitudinal and transverse directions with high strength; improved design of device for producing stretchable paper operating under continuous conditions. 19 cl, 6 dwg
