PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of obtaining quinaldine in further higher purity than a well-known method. SOLUTION: This method for purifying quinaldine processed from coal tar comprises adding phenol, cresol and xylenol type monocyclic aromatic compound to quinaldine fraction, crystallizing the aromatic compound, forming adduct of quinaldine, successively separating quinaldine-monocyclic aromatic compound adduct and adding 5-20 wt.% (based on weight of quinaldine fraction) aromatic mixture or toluene to the quinaldine fraction before adding the monocyclic aromatic compound to the quinaldine fraction. |
