A mechanism clamps and locks the position of two components relative to each other e.g. in the seat height adjustment mechanism of a vehicle. The clamp has power-out unit (3) turning with respect to a stopping element (1). The power-out unit has clamping ramps (4) limit the motion of the stopping element clamp face (2) gaps (8).
