<p>The present invention consists in a method for inducing stress tolerance in plant material, the method comprising the step of applying to plant material an effective stress-regulating amount of one or more active compounds of formula (1) or a functional derivative thereof, wherein R1 to R5 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, loweralkyl, oxo, amino, carbonyl, halogen, thio, phosphate, sulfoxide, sulfone, deuterium, carboxyl, aldehyde, hydroxy, hydroxyloweralkyl, alkoxyloweralkyl, loweralkoxycarbonyl, loweracyloxyloweralkyl, actylloweralkyl, loweralkanoyl, loweralkylamino, diloweralkylamino, loweralkoxy, loweracyloxy, loweralkylthio, loweralkyl sulphonyl, loweralkyl sulphinyl, or cycloalkyl or cycloalkoxy having from 4 to 6 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted by loweralkyl, halogen, oxygen, hydroxy or loweralkoxy, such that the selection of R1 to R5 results in a compound capable of inducing stress tolerance in plant material.</p> |
